Khawar A Khan, DPS, R.K.Puram 1990Khawar A Khan is a DPS R.K Puram alumni from the batch of 1990. Khawar, was born in Ayodhya, spent his early child hood on a farm in Daultabad, Gurgaon, while his adulthood & career was shaped as a Mercantile Marine, (Merchant Navy), officer at Sea. He left India after his XIIth and, never really had the opportunity to return back, sone for short visits. He was in the merchant navy for around 9 years, alternating stints between Ships and at College in the U.K. He spent a good part of his sea career sailing in the Americas & Europe while living in the south of England. He stepped into a job ashore at the turn of the millennium in 2000, taking up a position at the HQ of a Shipping Line in Switzerland. Working in global industries of Oil & Gas & Liner Shipping, Khawar has extensively travelled for work in East Africa, Middle East, USA & Europe. He took some time off work in 2005 to get an MBA from Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario, Canada. Professionally, he has worked in some of the oldest companies in the world and also been involved starting up of companies global liner companies, like Emirates Shipping Line. He has extensive senior management experience in managing large teams and Centi million Dollar portfolios. Currently, he is involved in developing large Gas to Power projects in South East Asia, using natural gas cooled to -160 degree centigrade and then again re-gasified in large FSRU's (Floating Storage & Regasification Units) to power up mega power plants (1.5 giga watts). Apart from his day job, he has keen interest in AI, Data Analytics and has interests in a couple of AI startups, one in USA & The other based out of Hong Kong, but involved more in consulting roles in South East Asia. He is frequently invited as a speaker at industry events. He strongly believes that travel has been his greatest teacher as he could build upon the strong foundation provided by DPS. He remains closely in touch with his DPS batch mates, thanks to the groups on that green App. Having worked in multicultural environments, he has learned to respect, that leveraging cultural diversity delivers exceptional results. A keen athlete in school, he represented DPS RKP in Badminton at State School meets and Gurgaon district for Haryana State at under 15 & Under 18. He played for the HKU team in the Hong Kong cricket league. Having picked up golf in Hong Kong, he is now an avid golfer playing to a low handicap of 5, and is happy to hit the links as frequently as possible. He is married to another Delhiite, and together they have a 13yr old Son and a 9 year old daughter.
